Senior C# Developer with Microsoft Visual FoxPro

About the role: Senior C# Developer with Microsoft Visual FoxPro:

  • Support of a legacy, in-house developed Visual FoxPro application used for data integration, order management, and reporting (approx. 100 clients in the UK and some in Europe)
  • 24/7 support required (downtime typically only allowed on Saturday evenings)
  • Management of four Windows application servers and two Citrix servers (detailed Citrix knowledge is notrequired)
  • Occasional enhancements will be needed despite the system being gradually decommissioned over the next two years
  • Support of a C# web application and C# web services used by both internal and external users
  • Participation in Teams meetings with clients and operations
  • Involvement in decommissioning legacy applications
  • Some out-of-hours work will be required for application/server management and operational or project support

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Visual FoxPro (version 8)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2016), specifically:
  • Analyzing and manipulating tables
  • Writing Transact-SQL
  • Understanding SQL Server Agent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft C#, used for:
  • Components of the Visual FoxPro application
  • A web application (built with Web Forms)
  • Web services
  • Familiarity with XML technologies

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Understanding of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) formats, such as IDocs, Custom formats, and EDIFACT
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle (not at DBA level)
  • Logistics industry experience (particularly warehousing and transport)
  • Experience with warehouse management systems, ideally Blue Yonder Dispatcher
