People@Proxiad – Boris Pavlov

Q: Let’s start from the beginning of your Proxiad SEE journey. How did you join our team?

A close friend of mine at Proxiad SEE informed me about an open position within Mailjet Team, a project known for its leading email delivery service. Keen for a new challenge, I submitted my CV, and was referred by him. It felt like the perfect opportunity for the next step in my career. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. At Proxiad SEE, I found not only a great work environment but also amazing colleagues who have become close friends.

Q: Tell us more about your role as Compliance and Deliverability Specialist.

To summarize, my role has two main components. On one hand, we should make sure that people who use the platform adhere to the rules we have in place and do not attempt to abuse it in any way. On the other hand, we help clients already using our services get the most out of them and grow their business while ensuring that the whole email platform does not experience deliverability issues and maintains an excellent reputation in the industry. The job has many challenges and truly pushes me to solve problems creatively; that is what I love about it.  It is always exciting and challenging, from fighting botnets trying to abuse the system to solving major email deliverability issues and scenarios.

Q: What do you find most challenging about the position, and how do you overcome them?

The most difficult aspect of the position is staying on top of current trends in the industry. Every day, fraudsters are creative in abusing new techniques and patterns. At the same time, the email world is constantly adapting and evolving regarding new requirements and best practices expected from senders. My job is to have a deep understanding of both and ensure that the platform is safe from spammers and violators while educating other legitimate customers on how to navigate the email world.

Q: Tell us more about your hobbies and how you like to spend your free time.

I am into music, hiking, road trips and coffee. I have been heavily into many music genres from a young age, and I have always enjoyed quality music. I love everything from digging old vinyl records to playing modern, fresh music that suits my taste. I am a big coffee fan and I really enjoy hiking. The mountain allows you to relax and focus on what is best for you. Travelling is excellent if you can meet different people and explore more cultures. I do that whenever I have the time.

Q: We have heard that you make music as a DJ. Could you tell us more about your hobby and what it taught you?

I started to channel my passion for music on DJ turntables around 2016. Countless hours of listening and gathering in my music library began manifesting into mixing the tunes I love. Then I found the art of creating something different and provide your take on music to the world. Soon after that, I started DJ-ing at small events in Sofia clubs, where I found amazing people and artists with whom I am a good friend today. This grew into its organization, which I founded with several inspired people in my circle. Since then, we have had a lot of great gigs together.

Q: Are there any unique talents or skills you possess that might surprise your coworkers?

Coffee. I am passionate about everything related to coffee making, roasting, and brewing. Years back, I was a professional barista. One could be surprised by coffee’s variety of sorts and roasts. All of them have a ton of different flavors from chocolate to blueberries. I know how to prepare such coffee and am really into late art. It took a lot of time to get used to it, but after that, it became like riding a bicycle. I do not actively practice, but I occasionally like to make a good cappuccino in the office.

Q: Can you share a good memory that you had in the company?

The team building during the summer of 2023 was a blast, leaving me with some incredible memories. One particular moment stands out – a spontaneous gathering of 3-4 colleagues on the hotel balcony that quickly grew to 10, then 20, and suddenly we realize it was 2 am. We had great talks and laughed nonstop, and it was a true team building experience that formed itself out of thin air. I like situations that happen naturally, and nobody feels forced to do anything other than be himself and enjoy a good time. And that is just one of many.

Q: What do you love most about your work in Proxiad SEE?

I love the constant challenge and the need for creative solutions to them. I also love the big room for growth and the opportunities I see to expand my knowledge. But honestly, my colleagues are one of the best things in my work. The collective is strong, which is essential since you spend so much time at work. You cannot choose your co-workers, but I got lucky.
